One of the greatest parts of Chad's visit to Ecuador was that he was able to meet our Silvia, our sponsor child. She has captured our hearts for the last two years as we have written letters back and forth to one another. She rode on a bus with her mom, a cousin and her tutor from the project she attends for nine hours just to visit Chad. Chad said it was a very emotional visit, even though they did not speak the same language and had a translator. Silvia has a younger brother and sister and a father at home. Her dream is to become a doctor and through the Compassion project she has the opportunity to pursue her dream. She is a quiet, gentle, soft spoken young lady. She is 13 years old. As you read below Chad has discovered the importance of giving the "Family Gift" after working at Compassion for 15 years...we will begin that soon. We pray that Silvia will continue to excell and grow in her studies and in God's word so she can break the poverty chain for her family. She is a lovely young lady and deserves a life without being hungry day to day, being cold or frightened of the future. When Chad said his good byes it was chilly out, she had no jacket to keep her warm and Chad gave her his jacket to wear for the bus ride home...
