We had to dig 8' deep x 5' wide trenches and remove all the clay and then fill them in with sand before the footers can be poured. The way to build in CO since we have such lovely soil in the ground! The dump trucks started about 7:30 am and continued to bring in loads all day until about 4pm.
Then it was packed in tight. The kids hung out on this dirt hill almost all day watching the activities. They got out a little shade and made a bench to sit on. Seth named the hill, "Hobo Hill." (The hill, BTW is the top 8" off the top...it is our "top soil" to be used in the barn.)
